Whether you are at work, at home or at play, having the right tools allows you to do the job or task better, more efficiently and with less effort. The same can be said about assistive living devices; suck as walker, raised toilet seats, adapted cutlery, transfer poles and more. These are all tools that allow you to be as independent as you wish and have energy to do the things you love.
Orchard View by the Mississippi encourages our residents to make their daily tasks as easy as possible using the tools that are available to them. Using a tool does NOT mean that you loose your independence, in fact it let’s you do the tasks you want, when you want or need. I often say to people that are looking or are being encouraged to use a walker,
“Can you go shopping anymore like you love to?”
“No”
“If you take a walker with you, you have an arm to lean on, a place for your purchases, and a seat when you are looking around for the best bargain or just watching people. It will allow you to do the thing you love to do at your own pace and without help. You can’t get more independent than that!”
